Had a super lucky day today. After doing various serious monkey business with the family, we stopped at the Red Cross’ charity store where I picked up this lovely wooden chair. Been scouting for a chair for my dollfie Joshua, for a couple of months and today I hit the jackpot!
Took a couple of pictures of it with Joshua.
Then I went to Teknik Magasinet to pick up some new headphones. Same as I had before, they are quite good! And I just happened to have some nice metal decal stickers to attack the new pair with.
And lastly a short story:
When I was a wee bonnie lass my dear mother picked up some watercolors/aquarelle at Tiimari in Oulu, Finland. They were some “cheap” Russian brand, nevertheless, for many years I used those colors. Actually, I’ve stuck with them till today, I haven’t owned any other than them. No fancy Windsor & Newton for me. Eventually I used markers instead of watercolors. Eventually I used CG instead of traditional media. It’s been going on and off for periods of my life. But lately I’ve been looking at my little box of Russian water colors and been thinking “I’d love to get my hands on the same brand", but new and in a nicer box". Like the flashier brands“.
And so around this spring I heard a teacher at school mentioning that the art supply store in my town apparently had Russian good quality watercolors from time to time. I joined the discussion and told him about my very own water colors that were even now, more than 10 years later, up to date and fully useable.
So there I sat, 2 nights ago thinking about my Russian watercolors. Looking at my own old box wondering if I should try “wash them up”.
Today, remembering what my teacher had said, I told my sister I wanted to have a look at that art supply store. And.
There they sat on the shelf. Next to the Windsor & Newton. A big shiny box of 24 watercolors. Last Box, and on sale with -100 kr! (they still weren’t cheap). I gasped and thought to myself “If I don’t get them now.” and coughed up the money.
As soon as I got home, I proceeded to open the package, and tear off the tinfoil wraps. And to my surprise there were extra slots! So I cleaned out some of my old colors and fit them nicely with my new colors.
Here you can see my little collection. Nicely assorted and I decided to write down the names of the colors, just to make it look extra neat. These should last me another 20 years, ha-ha!
