During January and early February we had designers weeks at school. The school has such weeks for everyone in year 2 every year. This year they decided that instead of designing an Object we would be designing an Character! Character designing that did not include drawing portraits of characters but to make an character that’s based on your very own opposites. I took this project very well.
They began by telling us that we are to create a scenery of a person that has vanished. And with this scenery we should tell of his past and character traits.

My work, which I call Reminiscence is based on the character Vendel Nyman and his life in a futuristic war torn Europe. I worked long to create a story that would not falter and the newspapers clippings on the walls are actually written by myself with actual happenings of the character. Since the scene it self had to be built on the actual exhibition ground, I was not totally sure of the outcome, but I can say it came out exactly as I had hoped.

 

What did I learn from this project:

That your hands smells terrible after you drenched them in Coffey all day making old paper.
