Finland, Optimus Prime and Me.

August 8, 2007 in Random

We went to Finland to visit granny for about a week. Me, sis and Mammi.
Finland has always been the country of my childhood. When I think Nostalgically, Finland and the scenarios I’ve seen there, often takes place in my imagination.
We did everything we were supposed to do… visit Granny, go to town, toast ourselves at the beach and visit Grandpa’s grave. I also managed to finally beat KH CoM with Sora (hurray finally got the blue 1 card, retarded system of doom). Now I just got Riku left. Also I re-read Diana Wynne Jones’ Castle in The Air, the Lovely sequel to Howl’s Moving Castle. However unlike HMC I don’t think I’ll re-read this one a 3rd time… maybe in a couple of years.

The one thing, well, more than one item… but mainly occasion, that made me gleeful as a 10 year old was probably visiting 3 normal supermarkets. They’re really close to the apartment block where my Granny’s old apartment is located (and where we usually stay nowadays) and they’re something we always visit… for our daily food. Or in my case, my Hyperactive toy department-visiting.

Finland has toys, compared to Sweden. TMNT, Biker omfg Mice from Mars… and ofc. SHIT LOADS of Transformers. And I mean Shit loads. I was in heaven. (Luleå had 1 TF and the stupid Star Wars TFs last time I checked).

Of course this brings some complications as well; I am not 5 years old… or 10. In fact Me being past 20, closer to 30 than 15, makes me realize the very sight of me by that very section is a bit… WTF in the commoner’s eyes. In fact when I usually visit the toy stores I point out loudly with remarks that I am indeed shopping for my cousins’ kid. But not by Transformers. Here I prattle and giggle and glee as much as I want.

Now, the other complication was me wanting to borrow money from my mother for the lovely Leader Optimus Prime toy. After a bit of persuasion, I managed to ‘borrow’ the money… let’s say way past 50 euro for a toy. My dear mum of course insisted that she would carry it all the way to the counter, making me look like a embarrassed child. Then AGE strikes again and I realize that I am not 6, and this isn’t my first Transformer. Realizing that didn’t make the scenario any better.
The leader Optimus Prime make me wonder how ANY parent would buy such an expensive ACTION figure. In fact, he has so many details I’d be afraid to let them kids play with him without breaking his poor neck.
He comes in a huge, nice box. I’d like to keep him in there for the minty-ness. But the more I watch him the more I have this urge to buy some nice expensive silver metallic model paint, and paint the ‘gray’ supposedly metal parts. He’d look absolutely stunning with ‘real’ metallic colors.

Right, other than this Optimus they had a variety of other models…of Optimus. And Boy do I mean allot. How about Softimus Prime, a Plushy that can TRANSFORM. Also they had the veryveryvery nice Optimus Prime Alternator at one store. =/ Money strikes back. If I could have afford it, I’d prolly get the Alternator as well, but at the moment I’d love to Collect all the 2007Movie toys (not the wtf ones, just the regular series). It narrows it down a bit, would look smashing on any shelf and wouldn’t be as hard on a starving pouch.

Other than my Wonderful Optimus purchase, I bought a POCOYO plushy at the same store! POCOYO! I was repeating Pocoyo for minutes before I got disappointed they had EVERYONE cept Patox! ARGH!
And the lastly WTF at the 5 euro for a Box of Rising Force Online! I took the box to the clerk and asked why it was so cheap. He said he honestly had NO idea since all other games where at least at 15. I have the feeling a certain number missed out and left it at 5. Honestly, 5 euro, that’s not even the monthly fee (you get 30 days free anyway). It actually made me suspect the game servers crashed at the company became bankrupt… so as soon as I got home I checked the website.
Either way, Funny enough I saw the game some days earlier at a game shop and thought; “Oh wow it’s out and Boxed now… I want it! But 50 euro, argh.”
I feel a bit happier knowing that lady luck smile at me SOME times.
I present you a little Collage I did of my new dearies.
